California Dreaming

F. Aaron Smith, California policy director for the Marijuana Policy Project recently wrote an excellent article called; A Neglected Revenue Source For California – Marijuana, which appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle, about the discussion of “Sin Tax’ to save California from dire strainsstraits.New sin taxes are likely going to be part of the solution to our financial woes. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger proposed a nickel-per-drink alcohol tax increase last year. More recently, Assemblyman Tom Torlakson, D-Antioch, introduced legislation to tack on an additional $2.10 per pack in cigarette taxes. Yet marijuana, California’s largest cash crop, is completely untaxed.
Eureka! What a concept for saving the Golden State and very fitting for the seal of California which features the Greek goddess Athena (Latin: Minerva), the goddess of wisdom. She should grace all the best reefer packs.
The marijuana crop is valued at $13.8 billion annually – nearly double the value of our vegetable and grape crops combined. Our state is the nation’s top marijuana producer. Indeed, the average annual value of our marijuana crop is more than the combined value of wheat and cotton produced in the entire United States.

The 1st Annual Alberta Cannabis Cup was held this past October at private residence near Calgary. According to insider reports the sold-out event was a smoking success, with the festivities commencing at High Noon and rockin Midnight, allowing plenty of time for the 200 judges that paid $250 for the very serious task of sampling each of the 10 medical-grade cannabis strains that were entered. Each Judge was presented with a handsome wooden collectible case containing a hand-blown glass pipe, commemorative lighter, grinder, wraps and 10 small zip-lock bags with choice little nugs of the strains entered to win the (soon to be) prestigious Alberta Cannabis Cup.
The event included exhibits from head-shop merchants, a glass blowing demonstration and several speakers on medical marijuana plus discussions about the state of affairs related to marijuana legalization in Alberta and Canada. For dinner, arguably the world’s best beef, Alberta grain fed, was served at a Bar-B-Q steak dinner prepared by “Bongs and Such”, then the evening featured live rock music from the band “Pale Rider”.
Afgani Bull Rider won first place in the 1st Annual Alberta Cannabis Cup.
The reason this report is 3 months late is because I just found out about the 1st Annual Alberta Cannabis Cup from the Urban Grower who attended and made a cool video report. Next year for sure we’ll promote this great event and hope it grows to become world-famous, like the hospitality of Alberta’s 420 citizens. Kingdom of Thailand
Filed under PlacesJan 15
In all of cannabis culture lore there remains a place at the pinnacle of mystique, Thailand. For good reason this Far East tropical paradise holds reverence to both the young dude’s and the old Stoners, it’s the fabled Thai Stick, popular during the late ’60′s and early ’70′s, consisting of premium buds of a high-grade sinsimlla which were skewered on slender bamboo sticks, bound with thin string known as “rasta hair” and dipped or dusted with opium.
The Thai Stick is a thing of legend but I can personally testify that it did exist, however having been to Thailand, where I never found a Thai Stick, I did come across great strains of sticky sinsemilla (for cheap) and can also promise that there still remains as much mystique as any young Dude or old Stoner could ever hope to find anywhere on the planet.
The land of a thousand smiling faces, as it’s often called, is also famous for beaches, girls and food, not to mention the culture, which is ancient and mysterious and adds even more intrigue to your trip. Everyone should have a plan to get to South East Asia someday, even if you can’t make it happen, you can still dream about it, have the plan to go, if you win the lotto or happen to inherit a fortune from a long lost uncle, in which case I suggest that you ought to immediately head to Sensi Paradise Beach Resort on the Island of Koh Tao -

Reefer Poker Growing Like a Weed
Who would have guessed that Reefer and Poker could work together to build a budding online community? A team of online poker marketing pros had a hunch and a dream, so they planted the proverbial seed in the fertile ground of the web, then tended the little start-up with constant attention, poured on some love and sweat to the plant in the early stages, then blasted that baby with 18 hours of energy every day, from a group of focused mega-watt marketers. No wonder Reefer Poker is Smoking the Competition!
Special thanks also goes to High Times Magazine, the Marijuana News Network, StonerRock, Celebstoner and Grasscity, and the 821 Reefer Partners (affiliates) for helping Reefer Poker reach 20,000 registered players in less than 10 months. -

Zig Zag Story
Zig-Zags are often mentioned in hip-hop culture, usually for their relationship to marijuana. Artists such as Snoop Dogg, Cypress Hill and Kottonmouth Kings have all used references to them in their songs. In addition many artists and musicians, such as Dr. Dre and Afroman, have used Zig-Zag products in their album art to represent reefer smoking.
The Zig Zag Icon
In the 19th Century, during the battle of Sevastopol, a French soldier (also known as a “Zouave”) had his clay pipe broken by a bullet. He had the brilliant idea of rolling his tobacco in a piece of paper torn from a bag of gunpowder.
In 1894, the Braunstein Brothers perfected the process of interleaving papers in a zig-zag manner and introduced a cigarette paper booklet under the name Zig-ZagĀ®. In 1900, Zig-Zag gained international recognition when they were awarded a gold medal at the Universal Exposition in Paris. Today, Le Zouave and Zig-Zag are known throughout the world for over 100 years (plus rolled more reefers worldwide than any other brand).Tagged as: zig zag
