• Ex-Rugby Player Busted for Marijuana Cultivation

  All athletes from all parts of the world smoke marijuana, no matter the location, sport or nationality. When it comes to smoking pot, the medicinal plant helps alleviate pain due to the rigors of athletic competition. With headlines crammed with stories of football and basketball players enjoying the recreational cannabis plant – there’s little room for sports that are not in the limelight, but rugby players also enjoy smoking cannabis. Nathan Hemi Roll is facing over a year behind bars on charges of indoor hydroponic cultivation and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute the marijuana to ill patients.

  Roll who was an ex-rugby player who played on the Wairarapa Bush loose as a forward pleaded guilty to breaches of a prior conviction of community services, which includes playing rugby with some extra equipment – the forward played with an electronic monitoring bracelet attached to his leg. Former Wairarapa Bush teammate and friend, now Masterton police officer drove Rolls away from the Masterton District Court. Rolls has been sentenced at the beginning of this year to community service and work for previous charges of assaults and breaching protection orders.

  Only after a few days, police found indica marijuana plants slowly growing from a hydroponic setup in his humble dwelling. Over the foreseeing months, the ex-rugby player and marijuana horticulturist has breached his midnight curfew over five times, which includes him bouncing to play a rugby match for club Pioneer. His attorney Virginia Pearson stated most of his curfews breaches were rather quick, with one being so he could visit his kids in Taranaki. Rolls is now putting all this mess being him after he serves his future prison sentence. Perhaps his past problems were due to his cannabis consumption — most likely not.
